Fred came home from university, his eyes filled with tears.
“Mum… am I adopted?” he asked, his voice shaking.
His mother gasped. “Of course not, sweetheart! Why would you think that?”
Fred handed her his genealogy DNA test results. No match for any relatives. Instead, strong matches appeared for a family across the city.
Shocked, his mother clutched the results and called her husband. “Honey… Fred did a DNA test, and… I don’t know how to say this… he may not be our son!”
Without missing a beat, her husband sighed, “Well, obviously.”
“WHAT?!” she shrieked. “What do you mean ‘obviously’?!”
Her husband chuckled. “It was your idea in the first place!”
Confused, she pressed him. “WHAT was my idea?!”
He grinned. “Remember that first night in the hospital? The baby wouldn’t stop screaming. Cried all night long. You told me to change him…”
“So I did. Picked a good one, too. Ever so proud of Fred.”
